CDC Extends Federal Eviction Moratorium Through March 31, 2021

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has extended the federal eviction moratorium through March 31, 2021. President Biden had previously unveiled the “American Rescue Plan,” a $1.9 trillion proposal to address the COVID-19 crisis, which included $25 billion in rental assistance, $5 billion for home energy and water costs, and an extension of the federal eviction and foreclosure moratorium through the end of September 2021. However, rather than waiting for Congress to pass the larger plan, President Biden called on the CDC to extend the eviction moratorium immediately.
