Offensive Use of Property Bill Passes Illinois House

HB 1532 is a proposed law which suggests that if a tenant repeatedly uses a leased premises in a manner that is seriously detrimental to the health and safety of the neighbors, causing 3 or more separate and unrelated incidents within a 60-day period that result in criminal charges, that a landlord may terminate a tenant’s right to remain in the property. It also sets a process and outlines guidelines for landlords to follow.
